Montclair / Mayfair real estate was originally created as small suburban communities located east of Denver. The land was first developed in 1885 by one of its founders, Matthias P. Cochrane (hailing from Montclair, New Jersey). The community was supposed to attract more wealthy residents who were turned off by the saloons and bordellos found in Denver.
The area has four city parks: Montclair Park (Richthofen Place Parkway), Mayfair Park, Kittredge Park and Denison Park. In terms of schools, there is Montclair Elementary and Palmer Elementary for grades Kindergarten to 5th. St. James Catholic School offers instructions for preschool to 8th and Paddington Station is a private preschool in the neighborhood.
This neighborhood is one of Denver’s original suburbs featuring many large Victorian and Queen Anne homes on large lots that were later filled in with Bungalows, Tudors, and ranches. Close to Cherry Creek and many bars and restaurants, Montclair is great for anyone who is looking for mountain views and a relaxing neighborhood while still remaining close to Downtown Denver.
